Tattoos for wimps like me

I love to reminisce about the crazy and wild times of my 20s:  how I rode with a motorcycle gang for a summer, got tattoos on every limb and lived in Thailand for a year.  NOT.  While I had a good time during that decade, I’ve always been pretty wimpy if I’m pressed in print to be truthful and admired women who just went for it.  When I get a group of “girls” together at night I’m amazed at the stories that come out, usually prompted by something in a wineglass and the unspoken permission to open up and be creative, so I’m left thinking “When can we do this again?”. 

I’ve done home parties, painting parties, pretty much everything that has “party” in the title and when we met Janet Carmichael of Big Frog Custom T-shirts & More in Cool Springs, we looked at that huge open space between their graphic designers and had an epiphany:  girlfriends being creative with “tattooed” T-shirts all their own, BYO appetizers and, of course, drinks!  Janet and her husband, Dan, are ready to help you get a forever, personally inked women’s T and open up “after hours” just for you.  (You’ll have to go to Nashville for a dolphin on your ankle, however.  Sorry.)

While you should go to Big Frog for group orders for things like sports uniforms, family reunions, birthday parties & favors (brilliant - just learned this one myself), mission trips, non-profit runs/walks and family vacations, the printing technology at Big Frog is so darn cool they can do one T-shirt or or other printable item like a hoodie within A DAY.  And, it’s not that 70s looking pressed transfer that fades and cracks in eight washings, it’s called Direct-To-Garment printing where the ink is directly IN the fabric so it lasts as long as the shirt itself. 

When we interviewed Dan and Janet, they told us a guy came into the store yesterday morning and wanted a joke on the front of a T-shirt, but it had to be ready by 4pm because he needed to surprise people with it.  No problem, dude.  Hope your crew laughs away!

Big Frog also doesn’t just have those boxy, scratchy Ts that are really annoying and make you sigh with a grimace when you keep having to wash, fold and put them away.  They have a huge selection of super cute Ts that are made for women.  I recently got a tank style by the brand Bella there in cobalt blue.  Most Ts are priced around $12-15 and some, like Bella, are a higher end brand so the price is higher. 

Janet and Dan are offering us a $50 for $25 deal, up to 4 purchases, which is awesomely generous, and expires at the end of the year.  If you’ve got holiday or vacation plans that would be made cute with T-shirts, big birthdays, or any of the group ideas mentioned above, you’ll want to nab this deal.  For Girl’s Night Out parties, a variety of ladies’ fitted light colored T-shirts are around $12/each, so my quick math is one purchase would be you and 3 besties whooping it up and being creative with your T-shirt tattoo, helped by one of their two graphic artists.  If you end up choosing a T-shirt color that they don’t have in stock, you can still design it and pick it up really soon.  This was my experience with the Bella tank because I just HAD to be different and was surprised how quickly it came in.

Picture your mom’s face when you call her and say, “I had a Girl’s Night Out party and we all ended up getting totally different tattoos.  Oh - let me call you back.  The kids just got home from school. <Click>”  Who says being a wimp can’t be fun?
